About The Position

Oak Harbor Freight Lines is seeking a part-time PM Forklift Operator/Dock Worker. The position supports freight operations by safely moving and handling shipments, documenting freight exceptions, verifying shipping paperwork, and regrouping shipments as needed. Employees must meet the company’s reliability standard and be available to work various shifts during the week to accommodate business needs. Other duties may be assigned. The company also offers the opportunity to enter its Driver training program to become a Class A driver, or to become a full-time dock worker.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Basic English proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication is required.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic, weight, and/or measuring tasks is required.

Nice To Haves

• A high school diploma or GED/equivalent is strongly preferred.
• Previous warehouse or similar experience is strongly preferred.
• Forklift experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience using a hand truck, four-wheel dock cart, pallet jack, barrel truck, dock plates, load locks, and/or rope is preferred.
• Experience in an LTL operation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks within specified timelines.
• Note and record exceptions in shipment count or condition to help minimize cargo claims.
• Check the accuracy and completion of delivery receipts, bills of lading, and trailer manifests.
• Count freight and verify hazardous-material shipments and special loading and handling instructions.
• Regroup shipments as needed.
• Meet the company’s reliability standard for employees.
• Be available to work various shifts during the week to accommodate business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
