About The Position

Oak Harbor Freight Lines is hiring full-time Forklift Operators/Dock Workers. The role involves safely loading and unloading freight, handling shipment paperwork, recording exceptions, regrouping shipments, and meeting the company’s reliability standard. The posted schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with availability to work various shifts during the week to accommodate business needs. Pay is advertised at up to $29.30 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Basic English language proficiency, including reading, writing, and verbal communication, is required.
• Simple arithmetic, weight measurement, and/or measuring skills are required.
• Ability to communicate positively and effectively with customers, co-workers, dispatch, and managers.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED/equivalent is strongly preferred.
• Previous warehouse or similar experience is strongly preferred.
• Forklift experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience using a hand truck, four-wheel dock cart, pallet jack, barrel truck, dock plates, load locks, and/or rope is preferred.
• Experience in an LTL operation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks within specified timelines.
• Note and record exceptions in shipment counts or condition to minimize cargo claims.
• Check the accuracy and completion of delivery receipts, bills of lading, and trailer manifests; count freight; verify hazardous-material shipments; and follow special loading and handling instructions.
• Regroup shipments as needed.
• Meet the company’s reliability standard for employees.
• Be available to work various shifts during the week to accommodate business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
