Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Dockworker to support safe and efficient warehouse and material-handling operations. The role focuses on loading and unloading freight accurately and on schedule, using a motorized forklift, pallet jack, or manual techniques. Workers use appropriate loading methods and secure freight with supplies such as straps, rope, pallets, airbags, and cardboard to prevent damage in transit. The position contributes directly to reliable customer deliveries and the company’s service and safety standards. The work is fast-paced and deadline-oriented, with frequent interaction with service-center personnel. The worker uses a dock yard management system and handheld tablet to track shipments, reads shipping labels and freight documents, and may complete forms used in freight movement. The role requires availability for schedules that meet customer pickup and delivery needs; days and shifts may change based on scheduling and business needs. The posted workdays are Monday through Friday, and the shift is overnight. Work takes place in service centers, enclosed vehicles and trailers, and outdoor conditions. Employees may encounter all weather conditions, extreme heat or cold, noise and odors, and lighting ranging from bright to low. Physical tasks include prolonged standing, walking, or sitting on a forklift; frequent bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and lifting; and handling freight weighing up to 500 pounds, sometimes with equipment or assistance. Attendance is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. This is a full-time position. The posted compensation range is $20.15–$34.50; actual compensation may vary based on factors including location, experience, market conditions, education, skills, and applicable wage requirements.
