About The Position

As a Yard Associate, you will support safe and efficient lumberyard and warehouse operations. You will work as part of the yard team to receive, stock, pull, stage, and load lumber and other building materials for customer orders and deliveries. This hands-on position may also be described as a lumberyard associate, warehouse worker, material handler, forklift operator, order picker, stocker, or loader. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, comfortable performing physical work, and enjoys working in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment
  • Availability for overtime or weekend work when required by business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a lumberyard, warehouse, building-materials, stocking, distribution, or construction environment is preferred
  • Forklift experience or willingness to complete forklift training and certification
  • Experience pulling orders, stocking inventory, and loading materials is an asset
  • Familiarity with lumber, construction supplies, or other building materials is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Pull, stage, and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently
  • Receive, stock, organize, and store lumber and building materials in designated yard and warehouse locations
  • Load and unload trucks, customer vehicles, deliveries, and branch transfers
  • Verify product quantities and order accuracy before loading or shipment
  • Support inventory control, stocking, and material flow throughout the facility
  • Assist customers with locating and loading materials
  • Identify and report damaged, missing, or incorrectly stored materials
  • Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment
  • Complete routine equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
  • Follow all equipment operating procedures and company safety guidelines
  • Obtain forklift certification where required; training may be provided
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional lumberyard, warehouse, and storage areas
  • Monitor racks and storage locations to ensure materials are stored safely
  • Identify and report hazards, damaged materials, and unsafe conditions
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements
  • Promote a safety-first work environment
  • Work closely with yard associates, warehouse employees, drivers, sales teams, and management
  • Support daily operational, inventory, and customer-service goals
  • Perform additional yard, warehouse, stocking, and material-handling duties as assigned
