About The Position

The Forklift Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for coordinating regular service for lifting devices with outside forklift repair companies and performing necessary repairs on forklift trucks with a sense of urgency. This role supports forklift maintenance and repairs across two company locations (Riverside and Fontana), ensuring consistent equipment reliability and safety standards. Duties include corrective and preventive maintenance on hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and structural components. The mechanic will develop and follow a scheduled maintenance plan, troubleshoot complex issues, maintain an inventory of spare parts, and ensure forklifts are in good safety and operational condition. The job may require overtime or weekend work. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a battery charging area, driving a company truck for supply pick-ups, and recording work orders and maintenance logs.

Requirements

  • Maintenance Mechanical Forklift skills.
  • At least five to ten years of experience in lifting devices preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Valid driver’s license with a successful Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check required, demonstrating safe driving history and compliance with company standards.
  • Good working knowledge of brake systems.
  • Ability to work on LP, gas, diesel and electrical systems.
  • Excellent communication and management skills are needed to make sure you can handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good time management skills are required to make sure all maintenance processes are managed on time.
  • Have positive attitude self-motivated, great attention to details, and be goal oriented.
  • Exceptional analytical skills are needed to process different information and make informed decisions on things, such as equipment needs and budget concerns, among other things.
  • Knowledge of various reliability measures and techniques is recommended.
  • Problem-solving skills are crucial, along with excellent decision-making skills.
  • Ability to face the physical strain of walking, while maintaining and managing all maintenance activities as required.
  • Strong positive attitude to provide high quality service.
  • Sense of urgency to help quick repairs and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate forklift corrective and preventive maintenance with service suppliers.
  • Perform emergency repairs and improvements on forklifts as needed.
  • Interpret manufacturer's technical manuals to perform the necessary maintenance and repairs needed.
  • Provide maintenance and repair support for forklifts and lifting equipment at both company locations (Riverside and Fontana), ensuring operational consistency and minimal downtime.
  • Troubleshoot forklift problems to include brake, electrical and hydraulic systems, detect imperfections, potential problems, safety issues and/or malfunctions.
  • Coordinate broken or defective components and keep proper inventory levels of the most critical parts.
  • Perform safety inspection of forklifts prior to being released back to the work floor.
  • Ensure work area and methods used in carrying out job duties meet safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
  • Complete legible service documents, available forklifts list and current condition reports, logs for preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Assist and conducting Root Cause Analysis to help to prevent future failures.
  • Develop good relationships with various parties to facility management.
  • Manage maintenance processes on time.
  • Manage and supervise complex, multi-discipline projects simultaneously as needed.
