About The Position

Doncasters has an exciting opportunity for an experienced forklift and maintenance mechanic to join their team in Long Beach. The Forklift & Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of forklifts, material handling equipment, and production machinery throughout the foundry. On a daily basis, this role diagnoses mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues, performs preventative maintenance, and completes repairs to minimize downtime and support continuous production. The position works closely with operations personnel to respond to equipment breakdowns, inspect and service forklifts, maintain maintenance records, and ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently. In addition to forklift maintenance, the mechanic supports the upkeep of foundry equipment, facility systems, and infrastructure, helping to maintain a safe, productive, and compliant manufacturing environment. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, a proactive approach to equipment reliability, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, heavy industrial setting.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience diagnosing and repairing forklifts, including hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns, identify root causes, and safely return equipment to operation while following lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment with varying temperatures, dust, and production demands.
  • Three or more years of experience maintaining and repairing forklifts, material handling equipment, or industrial machinery in a manufacturing, foundry, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems, including the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment failures efficiently.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, including experience following lockout/tagout procedures and OSHA safety standards.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience maintaining production equipment such as conveyors, compressors, pumps, dust collection systems, furnaces, or other industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of welding, fabrication, and general shop equipment used to repair or modify machinery and components.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs to improve equipment reliability and reduce production downtime.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and maintenance documentation.
