About The Position

Responsible for transporting materials utilizing a sit-down forklift. Must adhere to all of Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities’ safety policies and wear all required personal protective equipment at all times. The role involves safeguarding company property, including donated goods, and reporting any incidents of theft or misappropriation. The operator is responsible for safeguarding forklifts and clearing debris that could damage equipment. Ensuring proper load handling and that each machine is in working order for safe operation is crucial. The position requires taking direction from leadership with a positive attitude and may involve cross-training to support all departments in the Retail Operations Center (ROC), including processing donations. A key aspect of the role is following and ensuring compliance with all safety rules and the appropriate use of safety equipment, taking immediate action or reporting any unsafe or potential hazards. The operator will manually transfer donated goods from Gaylord containers, load and unload merchandise containers from trailers and straight trucks, and operate hydraulic lifts and/or pallet jacks to move merchandise containers. Performing pre-shift inspections of forklifts and tipper machines, including fluid checks and safety precautions, is required. Following Lockout/Tagout procedures for unsafe or inoperable equipment and notifying leadership is also part of the duties. Visual inspection of contents and manual removal of breakable materials are necessary. Daily sweeping and mopping of floors, and washing walls around baling machines, as directed, are also responsibilities. The role requires adherence to the daily product placement plan schematic and maintaining regular and consistent in-person attendance. Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Must have at least 6 months or more experience with a sit-down Forklift.
  • Ability to be trained and take direction.
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position.

Responsibilities

  • Safeguards company property, including donated goods.
  • Reports any incidents of theft or misappropriation or unauthorized possession of company property.
  • Safeguards forklifts.
  • Responsible for clearing debris or material that will damage equipment.
  • Ensures proper load handling and that each machine is in working order to safely operate.
  • Takes direction from leadership with a positive attitude.
  • May be cross-trained to provide support to all departments in the Retail Operations Center (ROC), including processing donations.
  • Responsible for following and ensuring all safety rules are complied with and appropriate safety equipment is used.
  • Immediately takes action and/or reports any unsafe or potential hazards.
  • Manually transfers donated goods from Gaylord (merchandise container).
  • Loads and unloads merchandise containers from trailers and straight trucks, ensuring safety at all times.
  • Operates hydraulic lift and/or pallet jack to move merchandise containers.
  • Performs pre-shift forklift and tipper machine inspection, to include fluid checks, safety precautions, etc.
  • Follows Lockout/Tagout procedure if equipment is deemed unsafe or inoperable and notifies leadership.
  • Performs visual inspection of contents and manually removes any breakable materials.
  • Sweeps and/or dusts daily.
  • Sweeps and mops floors, and washes walls around baling machines, as directed.
  • Must follow daily product placement plan schematic.
  • Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.
