About The Position

The Forklift Operator A ensures finished products are correctly and safely loaded for outbound shipment by operating a forklift. The role also receives inbound items, ensures they are stored correctly, and maintains inventory records and warehouse and outside storage areas.

The operator works the 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. shift and is expected to follow safety rules, meet shipment time frames, support company improvement activities, and act in accordance with WE CARE and Oil-Dri values. The position requires working in a hot or cold, dusty, and loud industrial environment while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• Meet assessment requirements.
• Read, comprehend, and act on product specifications, SOPs, PWIs, AIQ processes, and similar documents.
• Communicate effectively with team leaders, shipping/receiving clerks, schedulers, supervisors, customers, and drivers.
• Read and accurately interpret Bills of Lading.
• Satisfy the spirit of WE CARE.
• Sit on a forklift throughout the shift.
• Frequently lift 50 pounds.
• Frequently bend, reach, twist, stoop, walk, and climb stairways and ladders.
• Have adequate sight and hearing to avoid hazards.
• Function in the role while wearing required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, a dust mask, protective coveralls, and other PPE as required by the work environment.
• Meet all physical requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
• Meet allotted time frames for outbound shipments.
• Review Bills of Lading (BOLs) to verify customer orders.
• Receive inbound items, match them to BOLs, and ensure proper storage.
• Manage applicable warehouse and outside storage areas.
• Placard items for inventory and complete inventory pallet, inventory, and damage inventory sheets accurately.
• Stack or restack products onto pallets as needed.
• Perform pre-operational equipment checks and monitor forklift performance and gauges during operation.
• Keep work areas clean and free of clutter.
• Follow safety rules and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned and take actions needed to support company goals, processes, and procedures.
• Act in accordance with WE CARE and participate in improvement activities.
• Uphold values inherent to Oil-Dri.
