About The Position

The Forge Operator I position is responsible for working as a crew helper on presses within the Forge, assisting in the forgings and forming of various types of materials and shapes. This position may be based in Corry, PA, but may require reporting to Irvine/Warren plants in the future. The successful candidate may be required to work rotating shifts, including 24/7, and in some areas, there may be seven-day continuous schedules. Overtime work (over 40 hours/week) will be mandatory at times.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate the manipulator and other required equipment.
  • Ability to charge steel into furnaces.
  • Ability to operate furnace doors, light furnaces, and use/read furnace instrumentation.
  • Ability to assist in forging operation as a floor man.
  • Ability to place punches on forging, paddle forging, operate cutting and scarfing torch, and clean scale from forging.
  • Ability to stamp identification markings on forging by hand or power activated tool.
  • Ability to stack brick in furnace openings.
  • Ability to change jaws and dies.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance duties.
  • Ability to complete clerical duties.
  • Ability to maintain working area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
  • Ability to observe all safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to attend all required meetings and trainings.
  • Regular attendance as scheduled is an essential function.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a crew member performing duties related to the forge operation under the direction of the Supervisor/Forge Operator II.
  • Operate the manipulator and other required equipment.
  • Charge steel into furnaces prior to forging, when required.
  • Operate furnace doors, light furnaces, use and read furnace instrumentation, assist in forging operation as a floor man.
  • Place punches on forging, paddle forging, operate cutting and scarfing torch, clean scale from forging as material is being forged.
  • Stamp identification markings on forging by hand or power activated tool.
  • Stack brick in furnace openings.
  • Change jaws and dies.
  • Perform preventative maintenance duties associated with the proper function and operation of the forge area.
  • Complete clerical duties.
  • Maintain working area in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations.
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings.
  • Perform all other duties as required.
