Requirements

Mechanically inclined
High School
Ability to read measuring devices such as measuring tapes and digital calipers

Responsibilities

Lay out, set up and operate one or more heavy metalworking machines such as power presses, saws, plate rolls, drills, computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment
Read specifications or follow verbal instructions
Position heated metal ingots, on die of press or other forging machinery
Troubleshoot and perform corrective action or minor repairs
Document work completed
Clean or lubricate equipment and replace parts as required
Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes and lift trucks
Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
Other duties as required
