About The Position

Steigerwaldt Land Services, Inc. is seeking a limited-term, full-time Forestry Technician to join their Forest Operations department. This entry-level position will support daily operations and projects across multiple departments including Forest Operations, Environmental, Tree Farm, and Inventory and Geospatial Solutions. The role is primarily field-focused (95%) and requires working in all weather conditions.   • Working towards a 2 or 4 year degree in forestry or natural resource management

  • Experience with GPS data collecting and processing
  • Experience with ESRI GIS software and GIS mapping and data collection principles
  • Ability to travel and conduct overnight work away from the office – travel up to 25-40 percent or more
  • Current valid driver’s license with personal vehicle suitable for forestry work (mileage is reimbursed)
  • ATV and snowmobile certifications

Responsibilities

  • Daily and weekend field-focused work in all weather conditions (95% field work)
  • Timber marking
  • Timber sale set up and administration
  • Harvest boundary delineation
  • Timber inventory
  • Carbon inventory
  • Tree farm field activities (mowing, shearing, pruning, harvest)
  • Wetland delineation assistance
  • Timber stand improvement
  • Invasive species treatment
  • Critical Project Response Team support
  • Periodic travel on project may exceed ±50 percent (in and out of state)
  • Other duties as assigned
