This position will provide field and office support to faculty conducting long-term collaborative research with the U.S. Forest Service on ecology and management of mixed-species northern forests. This full-time, 40-hours per week, temporary position pays $22.00/hr. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Conduct inventory on permanent sample plots, including trees, shrubs, and understory vegetation (identified to species), substrate, deadwood, and microtopography. • Collect geospatial data and utilize those data in creation of geo-referenced maps. • Assist with stand layout and timber marking for commercial harvests in research areas. • Assist with infrastructure and facility maintenance associated with long-term research installations. • Provide other field and other office support to faculty and collaborating scientists as requested.
