About The Position

Spectrum Resource Group (SRG), a business unit of Wright Canada Holdings, Spectrum Resource Group is an integrated vegetation management (IVM) solutions provider with expertise in vegetation management, forest management, and reforestation. We provide these services to federal, provincial, regional, local and Indigenous governments, to the forestry, energy, mines, petroleum, transportation and utility sectors, and to numerous regional invasive species organizations across Canada.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of Forestry-related experience.
  • A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License, or equivalent, and a current Driver’s Abstract.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Punctuality, dependability, and accountability in the field.
  • The ability to work away from home for scheduled periods of time.
  • A safety conscious attitude.
  • A love of the outdoors.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry or a related field is an asset.
  • Previous experience operating ATVs and picking up trucks safely on various road conditions is an asset.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role would be considered an asset.
  • Preference may be given to candidates holding a valid BC Intermediate or Advanced First Aid certification, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with chainsaws would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Complete administrative duties such as payroll tracking, production tracking, etc.
  • Ensure a safe and productive working environment for all employees, including equipment inspection and maintenance as needed, conducting drills, tracking signed out inventory, reviewing and submitting safety documents and production reports.
  • Plan daily and weekly production and logistics for your team before the work begins and inspect your team’s work in conjunction with sample plots and document.
  • Motivate and inspire those on your team to perform to their fullest potential.
  • Collect, review and submit deliverable to supervisor.
  • Lead and direct team to safely complete camp set up, maintain, and tear down.
  • Participate in daily layout tasks, such as boundary and road layout, riparian assessment, and ecotype identification.
  • Train new staff to safely perform all job functions.
  • Ability to complete job duties in physically strenuous and varying terrains.
  • Other duties as required.
