This position is responsible for a variety of technical forestry, fire, and resource management programs on the Pine Log State Forest, Point Washington State Forest, and Sandy Creek State Forest, located within the Chipola Forestry Center. The role involves technical forestry work, including timber marking, volume estimation, and the sale of forest products. It also includes providing technical assistance in planning for multiple uses of the forest, preparing stands for contract tree planting, and preparing contracts for harvesting forest products and other services. Additionally, the position assists in developing prescribed burn prescriptions and smoke screen plans, evaluating burn areas, and participating in prescribed burns. Wildfire and emergency response support is also a key responsibility, along with assisting in the development of various fire management plans and enforcing open burning laws. Public outreach through mass media and educational programs is expected, as is coordinating volunteer groups. Administrative duties include assisting with budget requests, managing funds, preparing budget reports, and maintaining state forest files and records.
