About The Position

This position supports the upkeep of public lands enjoyed by hikers, campers, and outdoor enthusiasts. You will help maintain trails, plant trees, repair facilities, and contribute to wildfire protection. This role provides meaningful outdoor work that not only strengthens your skills, but also supports forest conservation. The role supports forest maintenance and wildfire protection throughout the Sproul Forest District. You will help care for roads, trails, facilities, and forest boundaries while assisting with conservation and fire safety tasks.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Able to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

  • Clear culverts, remove debris, clean side ditches, and help maintain forest roadways
  • Plant trees, maintain deer fences, operate tractors, and support tree planting projects
  • Use snowmobiles, ATVs, chainsaws, and hand tools to groom trails and clear brush
  • Perform painting, roofing, concrete work, and general building maintenance
  • Operate woodworking tools to build and maintain wooden signs and entrance markers
  • Maintain wildfire tools, reduce fire hazards, assist with fire suppression, and communicate with district personnel
