Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Foreperson will play a vital role in managing construction teams, maintaining a high standard of quality, and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. This position is responsible for safety, trade management, material organization, quality, cleanliness, and removal or roadblocks to facilitate the project schedule. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strong desire to learn, the ability to perform strenuous physical labour, and a positive, responsible nature.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings.
  • A good understanding of Part 3 BC Building Code.
  • Ability to effectively lead, mentor, and motivate crew while demonstrating team values and work ethic.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Possess a general understanding of construction procedures, equipment operation and safety guidelines.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Valid BC Class 5 license with a clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • 5+ years of experience in a construction site leadership role.
  • 5+ years of carpentry experience or a similar role.

Nice To Haves

  • OFA Level 2 an asset.
  • Experience using Procore software an asset.
  • Red Seal Carpenter Certification is an asset.
  • Ticketed on skid steer, rough terrain forklift and boom lifts is an asset.
  • Experience in multi-family residential wood frame buildings an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage construction tasks in accordance with priorities and goals.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the construction crew, fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • On-site assessment prior to new scopes of commencing.
  • Inspect and measure completed work.
  • Has good knowledge of equipment operation.
  • Supervise and optimize labour, equipment, materials and subcontractors on-site.
  • Attend and participate in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled.
  • Participate in project closeout inspection process.
  • Adhere to relevant safety regulations.
  • Emphasize safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment while providing training on safety gear and procedures.
  • Resolve conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably.
  • Regularly report project status to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain all required reporting and logs as required.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
