About The Position

The Foreperson – DCOPS reports to a Superintendent and is responsible for supervising a crew that performs any of the following functions: analysis, repair, construction and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection systems; leak detection surveys and coordinates related activities. This job has an automatic progression plan. An employee hired as a Foreperson-DCOPS will automatically advance to Senior Foreperson upon reaching 5 years of continuous experience as a Foreperson with SAWS.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Three years’ experience in operation, maintenance and/or construction of water and/or wastewater facilities.
• TCEQ Class “C” Water Distribution Operator License and Class "III" Wastewater Collection Operator License within 24 months of hire.
• Valid Class “CDL-A” Texas Driver’s License.
• Work Zone Traffic Control, Excavation Safety, and Confined Space Awareness and/or certification where applicable.
• Pass position specific physical testing.
• Ability to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designated work schedules.

• Experience in water distribution and wastewater collection systems.

Responsibilities

• Trains, mentors, supervises, and evaluates crew members by checking their work for efficiency and quality.
• Initiates corrective action as necessary.
• Supervises employees in any of the following areas: repair, construction and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection systems; performance of leak detection surveys and coordination of related activities; analysis of the wastewater collection system and collection of data.
• Operates a variety of complex electronic equipment associated with specific assignments such as but not limited to pipe tracing equipment and leak detection correlators.
• Secures and accounts for materials, stock, tools and heavy equipment.
• Interprets blueprints, construction plans, as-built drawings and reads and interprets block maps, operations and maintenance manuals and maintenance reports.
• May oversee and perform complex repairs of mechanical equipment and piping systems and in-house construction projects, including equipment demolition and installation.
• Responsible for adhering to safety policies and procedures.
• Performs various utility calculations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Benefits

• Starting hourly rate: $33.00
• Rate of pay depends on qualifications.
