About The Position

EFI Global is a full-service engineering, fire investigation, environmental, health and safety, and specialty consulting services firm. We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer for a remote forensic engineering position in a fast-paced and independent environment. The candidate will be responsible for inspecting various types of building structures to assess structural integrity, to perform cause and origin analysis of failures, and to review for compliance with building codes and industry standards. The role requires strong project management and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prepare comprehensive technical reports. Good communication skills are a must. A current Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in at least one New England state is required. Requirements

Eight (8) years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education
Familiarity with wood, steel, masonry, and concrete design and construction.
Experience building envelope components and details.
Knowledge and familiarity of applicable building and design codes and standards.
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Professional Engineering (PE) license in at least one New England state.

Nice To Haves

Prefer experience specifically in failure analysis and forensic engineering
Prefer multi-state licensing and/or active NCEES Record.
Expert witness testimony experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Apply engineering knowledge and experience to investigate and evaluate a wide range of structural systems for building envelope failure, structural component and system failures, and code compliance.
Deliver comprehensive engineering analyses to clients who represent virtually every industry and comprise some of the world’s most respected organizations.
Prepare comprehensive written engineering reports that can be understood by non-engineering clients.
Work remotely and independently with access to a broad network of experienced professionals.
Apply engineering knowledge and experience to investigate and assess complex failures in the context of an energetic, people focused, entrepreneurial culture.
Leverage EFI Global’s broad, global network of experts to both learn from and to share your insights.
Property field assessment and verification of construction for property, casualty and liability losses, typically at residential and commercial buildings and loss scenes.
Conduct investigations to determine the root cause of events and failures.
Produce detailed reports, drawings, and/or outline the cause and origin of losses and damages.
Provide expert testimony in a court of law and/or in depositions.
Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis for failure analysis and engineering projects for clients.
Collaborate with EFI’s national team of forensic experts to leverage experiences and assist on projects.
