The Group Supervisor of the Forensic Biology/Deoxyribonucleic Acid (FB/DNA) Section at the Forensic Science Center at Chicago oversees the technical, analytical, and administrative operations of a high‑volume forensic laboratory unit. This role provides expert leadership in FB/DNA casework, ensuring that all examinations, analyses, and reports meet rigorous scientific, legal, and quality‑assurance standards. The supervisor evaluates and approves FB/DNA laboratory reports, guiding staff in the application of validated methodologies and troubleshooting complex analytical issues. The position is responsible for maintaining operational readiness by ensuring personnel have the necessary equipment, supplies, and materials to complete their assignments efficiently and accurately. As a frontline leader, the supervisor assigns, directs, and coordinates the work of subordinate forensic scientists, balancing caseload demands with quality expectations to deliver timely, reliable results to Chicago Laboratory user agencies and the courts.
