About The Position

The Forensic Program Lead works as part of a team to provide services to clients who are Trueblood Class Members. This position supports the FPATH (Forensic Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness) and FHARPS (Forensic Housing and Recovery through Peer Services) staff in outpatient and community settings. The Forensics Program Lead supports the FHARPS and FPATH teams through collaborative care coordination and targeted outreach. In partnership with other Forensic team members and leadership, the Program Lead contributes to case management needs and will carry a small, diverse caseload from both programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social sciences, or other behavioral health field.
• Two years of Trueblood Program experience.
• Must meet all agency driving requirements, including being at least 21 years old, having been licensed for a minimum of three years, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and maintaining a current, valid driver’s license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation.
• Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.
• Maintain a working knowledge of current community mental health trends, including health care reform, current assessment, the treatment approach for clients with co-occurring disorders, and behavioral health medications.
• Maintain a working knowledge of mental health rehabilitation standards.
• Knowledge of Evidence-Based Practices
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public.
• Demonstrate proficiency with computers and electronic medical records, accurately documenting information in real time while engaging with clients face-to-face or by phone.
• Work cooperatively and collaboratively as a team member.
• Assist in building positive working relationships with staff of all agency departments.
• Work effectively through complex situations toward joint solutions.
• A background check to enter the Kitsap County Jail is required prior to actual start date, and the position is conditional until this is completed. Background check will be conducted annually and will be a condition of continued employment with the Forensic Programs.
• This position requires routine travel to other KMHS campuses.
• Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Ascend and descend stairs and navigate indoor and outdoor environments safely.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull: Up to 10 pounds (frequently), Up to 20 pounds (occasionally), Up to 50 pounds (seldom)
• Safely participate in crisis intervention, including implementation of approved de-escalation techniques, in accordance with training and organizational policy.
• Move quickly and respond to emergencies, including rapid repositioning or short-distance movement to maintain safety and physically evade attempts at assault.
• Use hands and arms for reaching, handling, and manipulation, including reaching above shoulder level.
• Have visual acuity sufficient to read written materials and observe surroundings. Peripheral vision to monitor clients and the environment.
• Have hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and detect environmental and behavioral cues.
• Meet and maintain physical requirements demonstrated through agency-mandated training, including demonstration of ability to: maintain balance, twist torso, forward bend, pivot, sidestep, forward and backward step, crouch, and lift arms.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in co-occurring disorders treatment, individual and group therapy, or substance abuse treatment.
• Prior experience in the leadership and/or coordination of services on an multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate team meetings to ensure that each client’s progress is systematically reviewed and that team members share significant updates that impact client care.
• Support Forensics Supervisor in problem-solving scheduling, training, and addressing unexpected challenges in client care.
• Provide coaching to other team members on strengths-based engagement strategies and proactive interventions for clients.
• Serve as a supportive safe second for dual outreaches when clinically indicated or upon request by the manager or forensic team members.
• Advise manager of operational needs such as supplies or equipment.
• Attend community-based meetings and functions as the point of contact for our Forensic Programs.
• Provide presentations and programmatic training for team and as requested outside community partners in collaboration with the Forensic Programs Outreach and Engagement Specialist.
• Provide care coordination services for an assigned group of clients.
• Provide direct services such as individual, group, family counseling, crisis intervention, and case management to assigned clients.
• Develop and coordinate individualized treatment plans, crisis intervention, and behavioral health services.
• Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, community agencies, and external partners to support client care and advocacy.
• Connect clients with resources, promote independence and wellness, and maintain accurate documentation of services and progress.
