About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. The Forensic Interviewer will conduct thorough forensic interviews regarding allegations of abuse or neglect. This role involves working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure individuals receive quality support and a forensically sound interview that adheres to national standards. The interviewer will work closely with investigators, prosecutors, mental health specialists, medical providers, social services, advocates, and others involved in a case. Additionally, the role includes providing education, prevention, and training to agencies and communities, coordinating the case review process, and testifying in court.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Criminal Justice or related field.
• Two years’ work experience with children in human services, criminal justice or related field.
• Individuals with forensic interviewing responsibilities must demonstrate participation in ongoing education in the field of child maltreatment and/or forensic interviewing consisting of a minimum of 8 hours of Continuing Education Unit (CEU)/Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits every two years.

• Master’s degree in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts thorough forensic interviews regarding allegations of abuse or neglect.
• Works collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members to ensure individuals are provided quality support and an interview that is forensically sound and follows national standards.
• Works closely and effectively with investigators, prosecutors, mental health specialists, medical providers, social services, advocates and others involved in a case.
• Conducts developmentally appropriate, forensically sound and thorough forensic interviews with individuals regarding allegations of abuse or neglect.
• Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team members in abuse or neglect cases.
• Acts as an advocate to create and support high standards for abuse or neglect investigations.
• Provides education, prevention and training to agencies and communities.
• Coordinates the case review process.
• Testifies in court.
