About The Position

The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) is seeking a Forensic Accountant for its Securities Division. This role involves handling significant financial fraud cases, protecting the public, and investigating violations of the Arizona Securities Act and Investment Management Act. The position offers challenging work in a non-corporate environment, working alongside accountants, attorneys, and investigators.

Requirements

• Knowledge of forensic accounting techniques, especially relating to asset tracing.
• Ability to explain complex accounting principles and analyses to enforcement staff and other parties without accounting experience, including testifying in judicial proceedings.
• Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Accounting research skills.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Time management and prioritization skills.
• Ability to defend analyses in contentious proceedings.
• Ability to prepare accounting exhibits.
• Must be licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or comparable designation.
• Minimum 2 years of forensic accounting or fraud investigation experience.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF)
• Trial experience
• Experience in the securities industry and/or financial fraud cases
• Excel VBA skills

Responsibilities

• Determine appropriate methods and procedures for carrying out forensic accounting responsibilities.
• Handle own caseload.
• Provide forensic accounting analyses to case teams.
• Testify in administrative, civil, and criminal proceedings.
