About The Position

This position will be responsible for North Yard mechanical crane maintenance. The Foreman supervises, assigns, coordinates, and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience, and job knowledge. The role involves supervising and training employees to improve the quality and quantity of work performed, recommending training to enhance skill and productivity, and assisting in the development of training procedures. The Foreman breaks broad strategies down into practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans. Responsibilities include complying with all technical aspects of the job, including adherence to all drawings and procedures, and overseeing manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the company's performance. The role also involves supervising qualified trades staff and monitoring job and budget performance for all shifts. Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus to Foreman new hires.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree OR Apprentice Certification OR High School and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience OR Associate Degree in a Trade/Technical and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience
US Citizenship Required

Nice To Haves

Knowledgeable of Lock Out Tag Out Y-1078 Procedure
Knowledgeable of SAP Plant Maintenance Module and documentation requirements
Ability to read complex schematics and machinery drawings
Familiarity with Maintenance Processes
