About The Position

Ironsmith Fire, LLC is privately owned and growing by the day. The Foreman Utility is primarily responsible for performing installations, making modifications or repairs to underground fire lines, fire hydrants, remotely located backflow preventers and fire department connections. Perform taps on city water mains, excavating and trenching for installations, including working with ductile iron, C900 PVC, and CPVC pipe. The Foreman Utility will oversee the underground crews to ensure a quality installation is completed and up to Ironsmith Fire and the customer’s expectations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience installing underground fire lines.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills
  • Work in open excavations or trench boxes installing pipe and other devices with trench safety experience.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and effectively communicate information to contractors or others.
  • Willingness to travel including overnight to job sites
  • High-level attention to details and documentation precision
  • Basic working knowledge and understanding of NFPA standards, Building codes, and Local Ordinances.
  • Certification or training in relevant areas such as NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and CPR/First Aid.
  • Ability to pivot and adapt to each job quickly
  • Minimum of 3 years overall field experience.
  • High school diploma or alternative.
  • Any required State and Local certifications required for installing underground fire lines and corresponding devices.
  • Must hold valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record to be approved to drive company vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to speak Spanish a plus but not required.
  • Backflow certification a plus but not required unless in a jurisdiction that requires it.
  • NICET Certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example; uphold company values, safety, and quality standards.
  • Mentor, support, and coordinate crews to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Maintain clear communication with team members, vendors, and inspectors.
  • Ensure utility locates are identified, safe excavation, proper backfill, compaction, and site restoration.
  • Identify and communicate field changes, improvements, and cost efficiencies.
  • Complete testing (including hydrostatic), inspections, and required documentation.
  • Track daily progress, manage materials, and maintain reports.
  • Maintain clean worksites, vehicles, tools, and equipment per company standards.
  • Adapt to project needs and perform additional duties as assigned.
