About The Position

Park Paving Ltd. is seeking an experienced Civil Underground Foreman to join their team. This is a full-time seasonal position with competitive wages and benefits. The primary role involves overseeing the daily coordination of a civil underground crew, focusing on the removal and placement of underground utilities for infrastructure construction and rehabilitation projects. The Foreman will lead, mentor, and monitor crew performance, while also completing necessary documentation and reporting such as timesheets, site inspections, and hazard assessments.

Requirements

  • Experienced Civil Underground Foreman
  • Ability to work long hours, overtime, and consecutive days as required.
  • Ability to perform all job duties in a wide range of (adverse) weather conditions.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, balance, and climb.
  • Ability to exert heavy physical effort (handling average weight objects up to 50lbs safely, perform labour activities).
  • Ability to operate equipment as required to complete the project.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism even in high-pressure situations with other workers, consultants, or members of the public.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license.
  • Ability to operate equipment if required.
  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work Monday - Friday and when necessary overtime & weekends.
  • Must pass a medical/fitness exam.
  • Must have a driving record free of major infractions.

  • Valid Ground Disturbance 201 Standard training (Alberta)
  • Valid Confined Space Monitor/Entry training

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the day-to-day coordination of a civil underground crew in the removal and placement of underground utilities.
  • Leading, mentoring, and monitoring the performance of the crew.
  • Completing required documentation and reporting (e.g., timesheets, site inspections & hazard assessments).
  • Completing daily hazard assessment/toolbox meetings.
  • Evaluating and adjusting work plans based on ground conditions.
  • Understanding and utilizing Ground disturbance best practices, including various shoring methods and safe excavation practices.
  • Understanding grades and general survey.
  • Ensuring sites are clean and properly maintained.
  • Ensuring tools are kept secure, clean, and in good working order.
  • Understanding and implementing proper lifting & rigging techniques.
  • Ensuring all work performed complies with legislation and company safe work policies and procedures.
  • Delegating crew members to complete daily pre-equipment checks, checklists and preventative maintenance.
  • Having full understanding/compliance of City/Epcor specifications for tasks.
  • Operating equipment as required to complete the project.
  • Maintaining a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Working with operators and other crew members to perform a wide range of duties.
