About the Role As a Pruning Foreman, you’ll lead and mentor your crew while performing advanced pruning and tree removal work. You’ll be responsible for planning work, leading safety on site, and ensuring every job is done efficiently, professionally, and safely. You must hold ISA Arborist Certification and at least one of the following: TRAQ Certification Utility Arborist Certification

Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Air Brakes an asset)
  • Certified Faller or Faller Endorsement
  • ISA Arborist Certification (required)
  • TRAQ or Utility Certification (at least one required)
  • 1+ year of supervisory or crew leadership experience
  • Strong experience with tree pruning and removals
  • Comfortable climbing (spurred and spur-less)
  • Skilled in ropes, rigging, lift trucks, and chipper operation
  • Experience working in outdoor, physical, fast-paced environments
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Mechanically inclined with troubleshooting ability
  • Safety-focused mindset
  • Comfortable using iPads and Microsoft Outlook/Office
  • Team-oriented with strong customer service skills
  • This is a 100% field-based role requiring heavy physical work, including lifting 50+ lbs, climbing, bending, and standing for long periods. You’ll work fully outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and supervise your crew on job sites
  • Perform expert pruning and tree removal
  • Safely operate and maintain aerial lifts, chippers, saws, ropes, and rigging equipment
  • Plan work and communicate job plans before starting each task
  • Complete crew timecards and required safety documentation
  • Lead daily safety talks and conduct equipment inspections
  • Ensure safe work practices and emergency procedures are followed
  • Represent Horizon professionally when in uniform and provide excellent customer service
