About The Position

The Foreman - Mechanical position coordinates the activities of a work crew engaged in the installation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of piping and equipment. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing piping and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and drawings in an industrial establishment, utilizing various tools. The position requires reading blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and ensuring adherence to safety policies and company conduct. The Foreman will also plan the sequence of installation, inspect work, maintain records, and move heavy equipment. Additionally, they will repair and maintain basic electric motor control centers and circuit controls, and work cooperatively with others.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and additional specialized training equal to a master craft designation.
  • 5 -7 years' experience in mechanical construction trades.
  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy; follow instructions, read blueprints and make decisions based on measurable criteria.
  • Visualize objects in three-dimension; use logical step-by-step procedures in work; make decisions based on measurable information.
  • Perform duties that may change often.
  • Possess the leadership ability necessary to lead, motivate and direct the work of subordinates.
  • Completion of apprenticeship program and appropriate journeyman experience required.
  • Pipefitter, millwright licenses.
  • OSHA 10 Construction Certification, or ability to obtain during pre-employment (company provided online training).
  • Obtain and maintain a DOT medical card and pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid unrestricted Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and promote all Company Safety Policies and the Company Code of Conduct.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of Millwrights and Laborers assigned to their work crew.
  • Cut, thread, bend and assemble metal and non-metal pipe. Weld, solder, braze, fuse or cement as necessary.
  • Plan sequence of installation and establish/adjust as needed to meet the construction schedule using knowledge of equipment and personnel to avoid obstruction and activities of other construction workers.
  • Inspect work in progress and completed to determine that it conforms to specifications.
  • Maintains accurate time and material records and completes client paperwork as required.
  • Follows company policy and procedure and enforces safety regulations.
  • Move and install a variety of heavy equipment and material into buildings and vaults using rigging and chainfalls.
  • Repair and maintain basic electric motor control centers and circuit controls.
  • Works harmoniously, cooperatively, and courteously with others at all times.
  • Performs miscellaneous other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Supervises and coordinates the work of the Millwrights and Laborer's on the job site.
