About The Position

As a Foreman I - Piping, you'll serve as a key first-line leader in commercial mechanical projects, overseeing a crew of pipefitters to execute safe, high-quality piping installations, repairs, and maintenance for wet-side HVAC systems (hydronic heating, chilled water, domestic water, process piping) in buildings, hospitals, schools, and industrial facilities. Working closely with superintendents and project managers, you'll coordinate daily on-site activities, ensure compliance with codes and safety standards, and drive team performance to meet schedule, budget, and quality goals. Requirements

• 4+ years in commercial/industrial piping installation, repair, and maintenance (wet-side HVAC preferred); journeyman-level knowledge or ability to obtain relevant license/certification.
• High school diploma or GED required; trade school, apprenticeship completion, or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
• Proficient pipefitting techniques (layout, threading/grooving, fitting, welding/brazing basics, pressure testing, leak detection).
• Blueprint reading, material takeoff/list preparation, and basic scheduling/planning.
• Crew leadership, task delegation, mentoring/training, and performance monitoring.
• Safety leadership, effective communication (written/verbal) with teams, superintendents, clients, and subcontractors.
• Problem-solving, multitasking, self-motivation, punctuality, and professional demeanor.

Nice To Haves

• Welding/brazing certification (e.g., AWS) a plus.
• OSHA 10/30-hour certification encouraged (company support provided).

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a crew of pipefitters on daily tasks, including layout, fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, and repair of piping systems, supports, valves, and related equipment per blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Develop workable solutions with the superintendent to proactively address potential issues and prevent them from becoming problems.
• Conduct field surveys and physical site assessments with the superintendent; report conditions and recommendations in writing to project managers as needed.
• Perform takeoffs and material lists in a timely manner to support accurate planning and procurement.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site functions: crew scheduling, material control/staging, tool/equipment rentals, and daily progress tracking (including job completion percentages).
• Ensure all crew members comply with project procedures, safety requirements, company policies, quality expectations, and contractual standards; conduct daily safety briefings, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks.
• Document incidents immediately, notify superintendent/project manager, recommend corrective actions, and implement them to maintain a safe work environment.
• Prepare and submit weekly reports (safety/toolbox, production, preconstruction, project-specific) and assure timely office processing.
• Conduct job-site inspections to verify adherence to standards, participate in system startups/commissioning as needed, and coordinate with subcontractors, engineers, owners, and vendors.
• Mentor and train crew members on piping techniques, safety practices, and best methods; promote team efficiency and continuous improvement.
• Maintain clear, professional communication with the superintendent, project team, clients, subcontractors, and vendors to support project success.
