About The Position

This position oversees and leads a crew of 1-15 employees in the construction, erection, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures made of wood and plywood, using hand and power tools. The Foreman Carpenter is responsible for reading blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required. They must also identify all necessary tools for tasks and recognize safety risks and the precautions needed to mitigate them. The role reports to a position responsible for a crew of up to 5-15 craft workers, which may include journeymen, helpers, and laborers.

Requirements

Must be able to read blueprints, sketches, or building plans
Must have all Knowledge Skills and Abilities for positions
Must be able to meet all physical requirements
Must have Carpentry experience and experience working on an industrial construction project
Must be able and willing to follow all safety rules and regulations
Must have reliable transportation
Must have 5+ years working as a Journeyman carpenter on an industrial construction project
Must have 2+ years of experience working in a supervisory position
Must be able to read blueprints, plans, and drawings proficiently to perform duties
Must have knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction
Must be able to compute basic arithmetic functions, measure, mark, and cut equipment and materials to specification
Must be able to work full work schedule and any additional overtime as needed
Must be willing to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations
Must follow all company and site rules and regulations
Employees will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting
Will talk and hear to communicate
Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools
May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs
Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements
Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE
Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots

National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER) certification for Industrial Journeyman Carpenter
Formal/Technical education
Experience working with concrete and rebar
