About The Position

Mortenson is currently seeking a Carpenter Foreman that will provide oversight to project carpentry crews and coordinate, implement and supervise all self-performed work. This role involves ensuring proper IWP is in place and understood by the crew, examining blueprints to determine structure dimensions, laying out floor plans and cabinetwork using tape, framing square, and calipers. The Carpenter Foreman will select and inspect materials and structural units (lumber, prefabricated doors, cabinets, paneling) for code compliance, determine the sequence of fabrication, assembly, and erection activities, and assign tasks to workers. They will also inspect subcontractor work (ductwork, wiring, pipe installations) for specification conformance. The position requires performing various carpentry tasks including installing doors, building stairs, laying hardwood floors, and executing concrete and rough carpentry such as hand set walls, footings, gang wall forms, structural concrete decks, slabs, columns, and drywall. Finish carpentry duties include setting door frames, hanging doors, installing hardware, toilet accessories, handrails, partitions, lockers, cabinets, countertops, wall paneling, coffered ceilings, and running trim. Furthermore, the Carpenter Foreman is expected to lead team members by example, offer coaching and feedback, build relationships with diverse individuals, and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Completion of apprenticeship program
  • Ability to work with precision, visualize solid objects from drawings, read plans, and operate equipment (table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging, and form systems)
  • Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, detail orientation, and effective communication including active listening and openness to diverse input and feedback
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience
