About The Position

The Foreman Carpenter plays a critical leadership role in the construction industry, overseeing and coordinating carpentry activities on job sites to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This position requires managing a team of carpenters and subcontractors, interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, and ensuring all work meets quality standards and building codes. The Foreman Carpenter acts as the primary point of contact between project managers, clients, and the carpentry crew, facilitating clear communication and efficient workflow. They are responsible for planning daily tasks, allocating resources, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during construction. Ultimately, the Foreman Carpenter ensures that structural and finish carpentry work contributes to the successful delivery of high-quality construction projects across various settings in the United States.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a carpenter with at least 3 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship or carpentry trade school program.
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour safety certification.
  • Experience with project management software and digital blueprint tools.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills demonstrated in previous supervisory roles.
  • Familiarity with local building codes and construction regulations in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of carpenters and laborers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Interpret and review blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute carpentry tasks accurately.
  • Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to schedule work and procure necessary materials.
  • Train and mentor crew members to improve skills, productivity, and compliance with company policies.
  • Monitor progress daily, identify potential delays or issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain project timelines.
  • Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure compliance with building codes and client requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and equipment usage for reporting and billing purposes.
