About The Position

Supervises the activities of personnel assigned to the Buildings and Grounds Department of Facilities Maintenance. This role involves supervising employees, including Foremen, mechanics, technicians, and various servicepersons. The position is responsible for assigning work and overseeing employees involved in the maintenance of equipment and signage, landscape maintenance, and custodial & landscape services. Due to the significant scope of responsibility and safety considerations, this position requires 24-hour "on-call" availability to respond to emergencies, special events, and weather-related issues. The role carries out major assignments in conducting business operations and performs work that substantially affects business operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, civil or mechanical engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in industrial, custodial/landscape, or facilities maintenance.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid Georgia Driver's License.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to write grammatically correct letters, memos, and reports.
  • Excellent math skills for calculating budget requirements, manpower estimates, work schedule time, and basic accounting.
  • Excellent reasoning ability for making logical decisions about work processes, safety, and customer concerns.
  • Ability to make sound decisions on material and personnel.
  • Ability to walk or stand for up to 2 hours per shift.
  • Ability to sit for up to 7 hours per shift (including lunch, breaks, etc.).
  • Ability to occasionally kneel, squat, stoop, or bend.
  • Ability to occasionally bend forward at the lower back.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to walk on concrete and other floor surfaces that may be slippery or uneven.
  • Ability to walk on MARTA properties and construction sites.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises all maintenance work to ensure high-quality work at a minimum cost.
  • Conducts inspections and acceptance reviews.
  • Implements and promotes division safety and training programs.
  • Conducts routine job inspections to prioritize work requests for optimal resource utilization.
  • Interacts with architectural and engineering personnel on repairs, redesigns, retrofits, and mandated compliance requirements.
  • Assists in coordinating major projects involving other departments, offices, or branches within the Authority.
  • Assists in the preparation, analysis, and development of operating and capital budgets.
  • Monitors and reports to the manager on internal and external factors affecting the branch by analyzing work programs, performance measures, and customer surveys.
  • Interacts with personnel administration, labor relations, procurement, and contracting services.
  • Assists in design review of new construction and makes recommendations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
