Requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency in English and the target language
• Demonstrated superior knowledge of medical vocabulary in the source and target languages
• Training and/or certification in foreign language translation
• Two (2) years' experience translating, proofreading, and editing medical materials from English to the target language
• Demonstrated understanding of and adherence to the American Translators Association (ATA) Code of Ethics and Professional Practice
• Computer skills and knowledge of word-processing programs (i.e. Microsoft Word for Windows)
• Experience working with computer-assisted translation (CAT) programs (i.e. SDL Trados)
• Knowledge of glossaries and translation memories
• Two (2) years' experience in a medical setting or a customer service, advocacy, or related field
• Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
• High school diploma

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience as a translator in a hospital or clinical setting
• Native speaker of target language
• ATA certification or equivalent
• Demonstrated proficiency in a third language
• Higher education degree (Bachelor, Master, etc)

Responsibilities

• Produces, reviews, proofs, and delivers translations of hospital documents such as medical record forms, patient education materials, and marketing materials from English into the target language as assigned by the coordinator.
