About The Position

The Foreign Language Translator produces, reviews, proofs, and delivers translations of hospital documents from English into the assigned target language. Documents include medical record forms, patient education materials, and marketing materials. Work is assigned by the coordinator.

Requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency in English and the target language.
• Superior knowledge of medical vocabulary in both the source and target languages.
• Training and/or certification in foreign language translation.
• Two years of experience translating, proofreading, and editing medical materials from English into the target language.
• Understanding of and adherence to the American Translators Association (ATA) Code of Ethics and Professional Practice.
• Computer skills and knowledge of word-processing programs such as Microsoft Word for Windows.
• Experience working with computer-assisted translation (CAT) programs such as SDL Trados.
• Knowledge of glossaries and translation memories.
• Two years of experience in a medical setting or a customer service, advocacy, or related field.
• Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• High school diploma.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience as a translator in a hospital or clinical setting.
• Native speaker of the target language.
• ATA certification or equivalent.
• Demonstrated proficiency in a third language.
• Higher education degree (Bachelor, Master, etc.).

• Translate medical record forms, patient education materials, and marketing materials as assigned by the coordinator.
