About The Position

The Ford Racing Electrical Team is seeking an independent, empowered and passionate Electrical Systems Integration Engineer to lead pre-design / design / launch of current and future Ford Racing vehicle programs. This role is responsible for the design and development of Ford Performance specific electrical content, coordinating technical design reviews, and ensuring system integrity. The engineer will also be responsible for surveying engineers for components with electrical interfaces, building DV requirements for system-level electrical functions, performing validation testing, and supporting BOM sign-offs for pre-production build events. Additionally, the role involves representing the electrical team on evaluation drives, troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues, supporting offsite vehicle-level DV testing, and supporting breadboard activities by configuring, updating, and root-causing electrical modules and systems. On-site support for vehicle builds at the assembly plant is also required, as is leading Full Service Suppliers (FSS) and/or other internal/external resources to deliver programs. The engineer will lead the development of system designs that support vehicle performance targets, assure conformance to Ford Racing DNA and all applicable Ford & regulatory requirements, and develop innovative solutions for performance vehicles. Support for supplier sourcing processes, FMA activities, and handling deliverables for program & engineering GPDS breakthroughs are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • BS Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent); Master degree preferred
  • 5+ years experience in automotive electrical systems
  • Understanding of GPDS deliverables and basic Ford engineering tools (FEDE BOM / WERS / Bill of Material / AIMS / JIRA / 5/8Ds / FEDE DVP / Engineering Sign Off / DFMEA / Six Sigma
  • Experience launching new vehicles
  • Ability to handle complex tasks and complicated situations under compressed timing
  • Outstanding planning, organizational and project management skills with accurate follow-up to accomplish multiple objectives
  • Strong One Ford Leadership Behaviors with proven ability to drive and deliver results
  • Effective written and oral presentation skills
  • Ability to build strong effective relationships with multi-functional teams (Program, Studio, Purchasing, Core Body Engineering, VE, VI, VO)
  • Experience with CAN tools, Module Software flashing, CAN network troubleshooting, Bus Queries, CAN log and data collection, Diagnostic Engineering Tool, MyCanic, Data Logger, Vehicle configuration (VSCS)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for design and development of Ford Performance specific electrical content
  • Coordinate technical design reviews between component and EDS engineers to ensure system integrity in the design phase
  • Responsible for surveying Engineers for components that have electrical interfaces and ensure those device transmittals are populated into VSEM to support EDS wiring development
  • Build DV Requirements for system level electrical functions and perform validation testing to ensure product compliance
  • Support BOM sign offs for pre-production build events
  • Represent the electrical team on evaluation drives
  • Root cause and fix electrical issues on vehicles as they arise
  • Support offsite vehicle level DV testing
  • Support breadboard activities by configuring, updating, and root causing electrical modules and systems
  • Onsight support for vehicle builds at the assembly plant, representing the Electrical team
  • Lead FSS (Full Service Suppliers) and/or other internal/external resources to deliver subject programs
  • Lead development of system designs that support vehicle performance targets
