About The Position

The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking motivated, dynamic individuals for the Alexander “Sandy” Nininger State Veterans’ Nursing Home in Pembroke Pines, Broward County, FL. This is a Career Service position with a starting annual salary of $34,760.18 plus a $956.80 Competitive Area Differential (CAD). The department is dedicated to serving those who served the U.S., and the nursing home boasts a loyal team of long-term employees and a fantastic work culture. Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays as required.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime.
  • Must be willing and able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English; writing, speaking, reading & understanding.
  • Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that food is stored, prepared, distributed, and served under sanitary conditions.
  • Ensures compliance with state and facility safety procedures in the operation of food production and cleaning of equipment.
  • Ensures that clean and sanitary conditions are maintained in all areas of the kitchen food preparation and serving lines.
  • Operates and maintains equipment used according to FDVA procedures.
  • Responsible for estimating food requirements, for the preparation and cooking of all types of hot and cold food items according to menu and approved recipes.
  • Slices meat according to menu needs.
  • Places food items on serving lines and keep serving line well stocked.
  • Attends in-service training classes and performs related duties assigned by supervisor.
