About The Position

Our team provides a range of products and services to support our member-owners. Through the work that we do, we help to build, fuel, feed and grow Western Canadian communities together. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily store management, ensuring adherence to merchandising standards, marketing efforts, team member appearance, security of the branch and housekeeping standards. The manager will provide demonstrated, professional leadership and direction to the store team to create an ongoing, positive, highly motivated workforce within the store, ensuring a high level of customer service is always provided. This role is also responsible for preparing, administering and managing sales, margin, expenses, inventory and SPEH of the Food store, as well as ordering products and supplies according to needs. The manager will maintain a positive relationship with vendors and identify consumer trends to determine expected sales volumes for new products and support competitive pricing. Responsibilities include managing inventory levels and turns of all store commodities and setting action plans to address slow moving or deleted items. Ensuring claims, invoices and all other paperwork is done timely, accurately and meets policy and procedure is also key. The manager will schedule Team Members according to sales needs, ensuring SPEH targets are achieved. This role works with Human Resources on employee relations matters including hiring, training and development, performance management, recognition, discipline and termination. The manager is responsible for the adherence and enforcement of Meadow Lake Co-op Policies & Procedures and the Asset Protection program. Providing demonstrated leadership and participating in all OH&S requirements, ensuring Team Members are knowledgeable about the compliance with OH&S policies, procedures and legislation is essential. The manager must also ensure confidentiality regarding pricing, financial and marketing strategies, and Human Resources information. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience with sales of Grocery and Fresh Commodities or willing to learn.
  • Passionate about creating positive customer experience.
  • Can work independently and take direction when required.
  • Previous retail supervisory experience: a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • Applicants must be flexible.
  • Must also be available for calls after hours and emergencies.
  • Ability to lift to 50lbs unassisted.
