About The Position

This role supports the Food Services Department, ensuring all food services are implemented without concern. The specialist will also function as the Food Services Supervisor in their absence, maintain sanitary conditions, operate kitchen equipment, and produce standard food products. They will implement safety protocols, work evenings and weekends as needed, and maintain confidentiality and professional standards.

Requirements

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.

  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • Six (6) months of related experience and/or training.

  • 2-year Associate degree from accredited program/institution, or two or more years of college-level course work
  • Two (2) plus years of related experience and/or training

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Food Services Department, including support of the Food Services Supervisor to ensure all food services are implemented without concern.
  • Function as the Food Services Supervisor in his or her absence.
  • Maintain sanitary conditions in work and food service areas that meet or exceed all licensing and policy requirements.
  • Operate kitchen equipment and report any malfunctioning equipment immediately.
  • Produce a standard food product by weighing and measuring ingredients accurately.
  • Maintain knowledge of materials and equipment used in food preparation and cooking.
  • Implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary or requested by the position supervisor.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
  • Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the Compass Connections employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times.
  • Maintain supply and equipment inventory.
  • Prepare food using approved menus and recipes according to agency policies and procedures and applicable local, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Compile and deliver accurate and timely USDA and NSLP meals services records.
  • Report unsafe conditions in the kitchen/dining area(s) to supervisory staff and suggest possible solutions to hazards.
  • Frequently traverse the kitchen/dining areas.
  • Frequently move food and cooking equipment weighing up to 25 pounds in the kitchen/dining areas.
