About The Position

New Orleans Center for Creative Arts is a regional public, pre-professional arts training center that offers students intensive instruction in culinary arts, dance, media arts: filmmaking & audio production, music (classical, jazz, vocal), theatre arts (drama, musical theatre, theatre design), visual arts, and creative writing, while demanding simultaneous academic excellence. This position will manage the food service for student meals (breakfast and lunch) at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA). Provides functional supervision to the three classified NOCCA positions on the pick-up, set-up, and required documentation for meals. Requirements

  • Two years of food service experience in a food service operation; OR Two years of training in food technology, food service management, or in a food service-related curriculum in a trade school or technical institute; OR Twenty-four semester hours in food and nutrition, dietetics, food service preparation, home economics, or hotel, food service, restaurant, or institutional management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of all aspects of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts Student Meal program.
  • Forecasts the number of meals to be served daily and places orders with Food Service Provider; picks up and sets up meals for service at scheduled times; and ensures that meals served are reimbursable.
  • Ensures the account operation of the Point of Sale account system (POS), and when necessary, collects money generated from meals served and prepares a daily deposit of funds collected.
  • Maintains inventory of stock for meal services and Healthy Snacks, and prepares orders for replenishing stock.
  • Maintains integrity and accountability through compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations including Dept. of Education's Child Nutrition Program and Dept. of Health and Hospitals Sanitation requirements.
  • Responsible for the accountability of recorded documentation for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations that reflect an accurate report of planned meals, meals served, and supply inventory.
  • Provides an environment conducive to protecting the health, safety, and well-being of the school's students through high levels of sanitation standards as dictated by the Louisiana Health Department and NSLP.
  • Maintain required documentation on food temperatures and equipment temperatures.
  • Attends all required agency training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and outside of food service for students such as assisting IT, records management, culinary program, etc.
