This role supports the Food Services Department and the Food Services Supervisor to ensure all food services are implemented without concern. The specialist will also function as the Food Services Supervisor in their absence. Maintaining sanitary conditions, operating kitchen equipment, and producing standard food products by accurately weighing and measuring ingredients are key aspects of this position. The role requires knowledge of materials and equipment used in food preparation and cooking, and the implementation of safety protocols, including emergency evacuations. The position may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays, and maintaining confidentiality and professional ethical standards. Other responsibilities include maintaining inventory, preparing food according to approved menus and recipes, compiling USDA and NSLP records, reporting unsafe conditions, and traversing kitchen/dining areas while moving food and equipment.
