About The Position

This is a Temporary on-call position that will end on July 3rd, 2026. Under the supervision of the Transit Systems and Food Services management, the Food Services Driver is responsible for loading/unloading and transporting food and catering equipment/goods via agency cargo van. Assist in the fulfillment of the Agency’s vision, “A strong Fresno County where people have resources to shape their future free from poverty.”

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must possess and maintain Food Handlers card or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment
  • Demonstrated experience in the safe operation of delivery vehicles verified by current Department of Motor Vehicles driving report.
  • Ability to use tablets and related business software.
  • Effective presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing to work non-traditional hours and days to meet the needs of this position.
  • Maintain a valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by State law, and insurability by agency carrier for those driving agency vehicles.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months of related customer service experience preferred.
  • Three continuous years of recent delivery driver experience preferred, demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of this job.

Responsibilities

  • Loads and unloads food and equipment in agency cargo vans; drives assigned route(s) to perform deliveries.
  • Ensures food and goods are loaded safely; and follows food safety handling procedures to ensure food is delivered within acceptable parameters. Notifies Food Services Supervisor, Manager or Chef immediately of any food safety issues during deliveries.
  • Uses two-way radio.
  • Performs, documents and submits daily pre-trip inspection and vehicle condition reports. Maintains cleanliness of vehicles.
  • Accurately complete, distribute, collect, and submit all required delivery paperwork, including logs, manifests, invoices, and reports, while obtaining signatures and confirmations to verify deliveries and promptly returning completed documents to the appropriate department.
  • Reads, interprets and follow maps and GPS.
  • Follows assigned schedules and routes.
  • Maintains logs and records various data as required.
  • Drives safely and follows vehicle codes and Agency policies and procedures.
  • Provides customer service in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Assists in the storage and distribution of goods
  • Sets up and washes various food service equipment including insulated food service containers and assist in other areas of the operation as requested.
  • Collects and disposes of trash in accordance with established procedures.
  • Travels for agency business using reliable transportation.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Works evenings and weekends as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
