About The Position

The Food Services Coordinator will assist with creating weekly/bi-weekly menus, meal set up and clean up, and preparation of meals. This role involves serving meals to the community and guests, overseeing volunteers and guests in the kitchen, and ensuring ServSafe food handling requirements are met. The coordinator will serve appealing and nutritionally balanced meals, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations for positive inspection results, and complete all required food safety logs and documentation. Responsibilities also include ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and secured, checking food freshness, accepting donations, operating and cleaning kitchen equipment, and providing guidance to guests working in the kitchen and dining room. Other duties may be assigned, including participation in weekly meetings and monthly trainings.

Requirements

  • One or more years of commercial kitchen experience
  • Ability to communicate with other staff
  • Able to create nutritional meals from available resources
  • Able and willing to model Christ-likeness in conduct and conversation as described in our core values
  • Good discernment with regard to people and situations; exercise patience, wisdom, and accountability within an environment of grace
  • Computer literate, proficient with Microsoft Office software, internet and email
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, push, and pull items weighing 100 pounds or less; manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures
  • Possess a valid driver’s license in accordance with our insurance provider’s requirements
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a DOT physical card

Responsibilities

  • Complete all required food safety logs and documentation
  • Ensure kitchen is properly cleaned up and closed/secured with no guests in the area
  • Check freshness of food and rotate or discard out of date items
  • Accept donations dropped off at the Food Pantry and complete required documentation
  • Operate and clean various kitchen equipment
  • Provide guidance and encouragement to guests doing tasks in kitchen/dining room
  • Participate in weekly meetings and monthly trainings
