About The Position

The Food Services Coordinator will assist with menu creation, meal preparation, and serving. This role involves overseeing volunteers and guests in the kitchen, ensuring compliance with food safety and health regulations, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness. The position also includes accepting donations, operating kitchen equipment, and providing guidance to kitchen assistants. Additionally, the coordinator will participate in meetings and trainings.

Requirements

  • One or more years of commercial kitchen experience
  • Ability to communicate with other staff
  • Able to create nutritional meals from available resources
  • Computer literate, proficient with Microsoft Office software, internet and email
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, push, and pull items weighing 100 pounds or less; manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures
  • Possess a valid driver’s license in accordance with our insurance provider’s requirements
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a DOT physical card

Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating weekly/bi-weekly menus
  • Meal set up and clean up
  • Preparation of meals
  • Assist with serving meals to community and guests
  • Oversee volunteers and guests who assist in the kitchen and ensure all ServSafe food handling requirements are practiced
  • Serve appealing and nutritionally balanced meals of reasonable portion
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in the kitchen to yield positive inspection results
  • Complete all required food safety logs and documentation
  • Ensure kitchen is properly cleaned up and closed/secured with no guests in the area
  • Check freshness of food and rotate or discard out of date items
  • Accept donations dropped off at the Food Pantry and complete required documentation
  • Operate and clean various kitchen equipment
  • Provide guidance and encouragement to guests doing tasks in kitchen/dining room
  • Participate in weekly meetings and monthly trainings
