FOOD SERVICE WORKER (FULL TIME AND PART TIME)
About The Position
The Food Service Worker prepares, presents, and serves food as needed in a school dining program. The role includes food preparation, ingredient measurement, safe handling and storage, cleaning, distributing supplies and equipment, following approved recipes and production standards, serving customers, responding to customer concerns, and maintaining service, inventory, cash-control, sanitation, and safety standards. The position is based at Harper Woods, 20225 Beaconsfield, Harper Woods, Michigan. Full-time and part-time schedules are available, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The employer notes that work may be reduced or paused during school breaks, with those periods unpaid; year-round work at another location may be required depending on business needs.
Requirements
- Prior food service experience is required.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare food by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables.
- Weigh and measure designated ingredients.
- Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food between work stations, the stove, and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards.
- Store food in designated areas using required wrapping, dating, food-safety, and rotation procedures.
- Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils.
- Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
- Use approved food recipes and production standards to maintain quality, serving temperatures, and portion control.
- Serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner, following outlined service steps.
- Resolve customer concerns and relay relevant information to a supervisor.
- Comply with company service standards and inventory and cash-control procedures.
- Meet sanitation and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
