About The Position

The Food Service Worker prepares and serves a variety of food items according to assigned work instructions, menus, recipes, and department procedures. The role uses food preparation utensils and equipment and serves menu portions that meet clients’ nutritional needs. The position is onsite inside a jail or correctional facility and reports to a Food Service Director. The posting describes oversight of inmate labor and team members during food preparation and service, as well as training other food service workers. The schedule is Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Ability to lift, bend, push, kneel, walk, and stand for extended periods, including being on one’s feet for much of the scheduled shift.

Nice To Haves

• Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage inmate labor and team members during kitchen preparation and food service shifts.
• Train other food service workers.
• Promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates.
• Carry out other responsibilities as determined by the employer.
