The Food Service Worker prepares, portions, and serves meals in a healthcare food service setting, supporting patients, visitors, and staff with nutritious meals and a welcoming dining experience. The role includes delivering meals to patients, assisting with basic meal service needs, maintaining kitchen and serving areas, and following food safety, sanitation, portioning, and production standards. Team members help communicate guest orders, allergies, dietary restrictions, and special requests to the appropriate staff. This is a site-based, non-exempt position that may be part-time or full-time, with days and hours aligned to the facility’s food service schedule. Shifts include nights and weekends, but no late nights are expected. Occasional extended hours may be needed for special events or operational needs, and occasional travel to other locations may be required for substitute coverage or support. On-the-job training is provided; no experience is necessary, though professional food service experience is preferred. The work takes place primarily in a kitchen and food service production environment. The role requires standing for most of the workday and working around cooking and refrigeration equipment, including exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Noise may be moderate to loud during meal service periods.
