About The Position

The Food Service Supervisor oversees inmate labor and team members assisting with food service operations in a correctional facility. The role also prepares and serves a variety of food items according to assigned work instructions and menus, using food preparation utensils and machines. The position reports to a Food Service Director and is performed onsite inside a jail or correctional facility.

The schedule is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The employee must be able to work some weekends and holidays. The role requires standing and being on one's feet for much of the shift, along with lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, and walking.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to work some weekends and holidays.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

• Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food preparation and food service shifts.
• Serve food during planned meal schedules and according to department procedures.
• Use kitchen utensils and equipment to cook food according to recipes.
• Serve menu portions using appropriate utensils to meet clients' nutritional needs.
• Train other food service workers.
• Promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates.
• Perform other responsibilities as determined by business needs.
