About The Position

Responsible for preparing meals to order, catering, and batch cooking for patients, visitors, and staff. The role includes patient meal service, retail operations, food preparation, sanitation, and maintaining stocked and clean work areas. Available schedules include day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts. Flexible scheduling may be available based on department needs. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Food service managers certification is required within 30 days of hire for SJMH; food service handlers certification is required within 30 days for MHC, HH, HMC, and Cancer Institute. Food Allergens Certification is also required within 30 days of hire. Six months of technical experience is preferred.

Requirements

Food Allergens Certification within 30 days of hire.
Food Service Managers Certification within 30 days of hire for SJMH only.
Food Service Handlers Certification within 30 days of hire for MHC, HH, HMC, and Cancer Institute.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Six months of technical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain a clean work area and follow safety and sanitation guidelines.
Enter and report cash transactions.
Adjust patient meals to meet patient needs while following doctors’ orders.
Keep work areas stocked with food, condiments, beverages, and service ware.
Wash dishes and utensils in accordance with Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines.
Deliver and retrieve trays using required patient identifiers.
Assemble patient trays attractively and accurately.
Follow portion-control guidelines when serving food and beverages.
Provide service to retail operations.
Prepare meals using approved food sanitation practices.
Sweep and mop floors using approved methods.
