About The Position

The Food Service Worker position involves overseeing inmate labor and team members in a correctional facility's food service operation. Responsibilities include preparing and serving food items according to menus and work instructions, utilizing various food preparation utensils and machines. This role requires adaptability, teamwork, and a passion for food and service, along with an understanding of food handling regulations. The position also involves training other food service workers and promoting a safe work environment. A significant aspect of this role is the ability to travel up to 75% of the time from a home base account, including overnight stays.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age

Nice To Haves

• Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts.
• Serve food during planned meal schedules and according to department procedures.
• Use kitchen utensils/equipment to cook food according to recipes.
• Use proper utensils to serve menued portions to meet clients' nutritional needs.
• Ability to travel up to 75% of the time from your home base account including overnight stays at hotels when needed.
• Train other food service workers.
• Promote a healthy and safe work environment for other employees/inmates.
• Be able to stand and be on your feet for much of the scheduled shift.
• Other responsibilities as determined by our needs.
