About The Position

Under supervision of the cook, this role performs varied tasks in food preparation and services. Responsibilities may include acting as an assistant cook, dishwasher, cashier, snack bar attendant, or food delivery person. The position is 4 hours per day, with expected hours from 9:15 AM to 1:15 PM, for 176 days per year, including holidays. This is an ongoing position and is benefits eligible.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Previous experience in large-scale food preparation.
  • Valid Washington State Food Handler’s Permit required.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license and good driving record required for food delivery position.
  • Knowledge of food preparation methods and procedures.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions and percentages.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
  • Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students.
  • Knowledge and ability to effectively supervise kitchen in a positive and productive manner.
  • Good organizational, management, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in safety and sanitary guidelines and practices.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out basic written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to perform job and communicate in a noisy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with food preparation, such as salads and sandwiches, and package sack lunches.
  • Serve food along lunch lines or serve a la carte lunches.
  • Act as cashier for the lunch line and/or snack bar.
  • Perform cleaning duties of all kitchen/cafeteria equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
  • Substitute for the cook as required.
  • Balance cash with inventory accounts for the snack bar cashier.
  • Assist in stocking storage areas and refrigerators.
  • Transport bulk or prepared food to satellite kitchens from the main production kitchen.
  • Transport food delivery containers back to the main kitchen.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Follow motor vehicle driving regulations if operating a district vehicle.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
